At the meeting, the organizing board introduced the International Centre for Interdisciplinary Science and Education (ICIS), which will open in the central province of Binh Dinh this August thanks to the great contributions of Prof. Van and his colleagues, many of whom are leading scientists. Eight Nobel Prize winners have accepted Professor Van’s invitation to join the 9th Vietnamese Meeting and the center’s opening ceremony. Professor Van said: “Invited professors are all people I have known for 30 to 40 years. We have talked about Vietnam hundreds of times. They accepted my invitation immediately when I invited them to Vietnam. I think this it is a great opportunity to promote Vietnam’s image widely to the world, and for Vietnamese students to meet world renowned scientists in person, and to prove that Vietnam can host top scientists and thus elevate its status in the world.”
Vietnamese Ambassador to France Duong Chi Dung expressed his hope that the centre will attract both domestic and foreign scientists. He praised Prof. Van’s efforts to bring world famous scientists to Vietnam.
