INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL FOR STUDENTS:<\/p>\n

Just prior to the 2nd Rencontres du Vietnam on Exoplanetary Science, an international school for students involved in those topics will take place on 24-25 February, 2018, at the same location, Quy Nhon, Vietnam. The nearly final programme is the following, together with the teachers:<\/p>\n

Guillaume H\u00e9brard:
\n– basics of exoplanet detection and characterization techniques;
\n– exoplanet demographics & statistics;
\n– main on-going\/future ground-\/space-based missions.<\/p>\n

David Ehrenreich:
\n– transit geometry and light curves;
\n– transmission spectroscopy;
\n– basics of atmospheric chemistry.<\/p>\n

Anne-Marie Lagrange:
\n– observation of directly imaged planets;
\n– secondary eclipses;
\n– emission spectrum;
\n– effect of clouds.<\/p>\n

Tobias Hinse:
\n– basics of celestial mechanics;
\n– practical hands-on with the free\/open-source MERCURY orbit integration program on test cases:
\n– compute the orbit of an asteroid (mean-motion resonance and eccentricity pumping);
\n– compute the wobble-motion of the host star of an exoplanet system and the corresponding RV signal (using 1, 2, 3 planets);
\n– compute the orbits of a Kepler multi-planet system using initial elements from a real AJ\/ApJ papers.<\/p>\n

Lectures and hands-on activity are scheduled from 10 am to 6:30 pm on Saturday, and from 9 am to 5:30 pm on Sunday, with a lunch break from 12:30 pm to 2 pm on both days.<\/p>\n

Those interested should arrive in Quy Nhon on February 23rd. They should register at the same time to both the school and the conference with no additional registration fees, and indicate their exact arrival date on the form.
